Burnout Basics: Reset, Renew, Do

I believe the burnout recovery cycle is of the most important concepts of the course. Thinking about my patterns was a key to understanding why I was still burnt out even though I was resting a lot. Does that happen for you? In this lesson we start to explore these patterns and think about how we want to change them.

Highlights from lesson three of the Burnout Recovery Course.

Lesson Two Topics:

  • What are the stages in the cycle of burnout recovery?

  • Reset - We need to reset when our nervous systems are dysregulated or we want to prevent dysregulation. During reset, we do things that reduce harmful stimulation and increase helpful stimulation.

  • Renew - After the reset we need to recharge, helps us recoup energy between periods of doing.

  • Do - When we are ready to return to more demanding and productivity oriented tasks

  • Stimulation Baseline and Allostatic Load

  • Charting and Identifying Patterns

  • Supporting Each Other

  • How do you want to change your patterns?

Share/Reflect

  • Do these stages fit your experience?

  • what stage do you think you are in right now?

  • Is there a stage you already have an action plan for? Is there one you don’t?
